FAQ

Naturopathy is a holistic, drugless system of healing with the underlying belief that the 5 elements in the universe – earth, water, air, fire and space – that make up our bodies too, have the power to heal our systems of any issues. Naturopathy aims to restore vitality through supporting and stimulating the body’s own healing mechanisms by addressing an individual’s lifestyle, genetic-predisposition or dietary imbalances.
Yes. In India, Naturopathy and Yoga, as a system of medicine is governed by the department of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy), Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.
No. Naturopathy and Ayurveda are different systems of medicine under AYUSH. While both systems stress on the importance of a proper diet for good health, Ayurveda treatments typically involve the use of herbal medicines while Naturopathy does not use any kind of medicines.
A Naturopathy treatment typically comprises of a recommended diet, exercises, yoga, pranayam, meditation and natural therapies. At no point of time in a Naturopathy treatment is the person asked to consume ANY kind of medicine. In this system the food you eat is considered to be your medicine or your poison. Good food and eating habits have healing effects on your body while bad food and dietary habits damage the body and its associated processes.
Naturopathy believes that various diseases are a result of the accumulation of toxins and morbid matter inside the human body. The diet, exercise and therapies undertaken as a part of the treatment aim to enhance the capability of the body to pass these out of our system. The increased elimination of toxins through sweat (by the skin), carbon dioxide (by the lungs), urine (by the kidneys) and stool (by the large intestine), helps restore overall health. The body has the inherent capability to heal itself. All Naturopathic treatments aid the intrinsic healing process through the right combination of various elements.
Though Naturopathy does not involve the consumption of any kind of medicines, patients are advised to continue their existing medication when they begin a Naturopathic treatment. Once the effects of the natural treatment start showing, the other medicines get gradually reduced, and many times stopped completely (upon advice of the respective allopathic doctor). As a treatment, Naturopathy is completely safe and can be administered in addition to any other medication that a patient has been prescribed / undergoing.
Naturopathy can be used to successfully treat a whole spectrum of health disorders. There are success stories around the world right from the treatment of Obesity, Common Cold, Constipation, Fever, Hair fall, Indigestion, Migraine, Sinusitis, Diarrhea, etc. to Asthma, Arthritis, Piles, Gout, Hypertension, Hypothyroidism, Insomnia, Depression, Jaundice, Kidney Stones, Psoriasis, Tuberculosis, Menstrual Disorders, Cystitis, Cholera, Malaria, Measles,…..the list is endless. Instead it is easier to name the conditions in which it has limited effect.
A Naturopathic treatment is completely safe and does not have any side-effects. In the first few days in a treatment of a chronic disease, some symptoms might be aggravated as the dormant toxins become active. This might lead to some acute symptoms, but they subside in a day or so and should not be mistaken as side-effects.
The first college in India offering a Bachelor of Naturopathy & Yogic Sciences (BNYS) degree was set up in Hyderabad in 1970. As of 2020, there are 17 colleges in India offering a 5.5 years BNYS degree. Since, this form of treatment gained official recognition in the recent past, there are 2 categories of Naturopathic physicians in India – experienced Naturopaths (no formal degree) and trained Naturopaths (with a formal degree/diploma). There are also some practitioners who do a short-term Diploma course in Naturopathy. All practitioners at NatureHealz are BNYS graduates.
The duration of a Naturopathy treatment depends on several things. First and foremost is the kind and severity of the disease being treated. Secondly, the format in which the treatment is administered (inpatient vs. outpatient) is important too. The benefits of an inpatient treatment are significantly higher as the diet, exercise and therapy regimen is controlled completely by the treatment center and deviations from the prescribed treatment are minimal. However, since an individual stays in a residential facility for a limited amount of time, most health issues are not completely cured and the benefits reverse back when people come back home. Thirdly, the climate of the place where the patient is undergoing the treatment also plays a role in healing. Lastly, the extent to which the patient follows the prescribed treatment significantly impacts the treatment duration. The age and the allied medical conditions may also contribute to the speed of recovery. Any deviations break the momentum of recovery and prolong the healing process.
It is not advisable to do so. Even though your problems might be exactly the same, your body might react very differently to the same treatment. It is important to take that time and effort to understand what works for you as an individual. However, if after undergoing a treatment yourself, you face similar problems in the future, you can apply most of the learnings from your last treatment to control your health condition, keeping in mind your age, location and new (allied) health conditions, if any.
A maintenance diet, yoga and therapy recommendation is given to all our patients at the end of the treatment period. Adherence to the same will minimize the chances of a recurrence of similar symptoms.
Since Naturopathy focuses on holistic healing, the exact diagnosis of the issue is not required for treating a patient. The science treats the person and not just the disease. Thus, a lot of developing health complications are also set right during a Naturopathic treatment even though the person is not being specifically treated for it.
Yes, Naturopathy is completely safe for children. The earlier we introduce our children to the importance of eating right, exercising and system detoxification, the more they will benefit in terms of good health in the years to come. The food and exercise guidelines can be followed by children as and when they reach an appropriate age. Most of the therapies however should not be administered to children without the recommendation of a Naturopathic physician.
No. A Naturopath treats the person and not the disease. As such, the overall treatment recommended, keeping the overall health condition in mind, will address all health complications simultaneously. It is not uncommon to see improvements in general parameters like an improved haemoglobin level, better skin, better eyesight, increased stamina, enhanced energy-levels, etc during a Naturopathy treatment even though the patient might not have come with the objective of improving these.
